Claverie: A confirmed 1,000 Paducah area visitors crossed over the vessel; the weather was perfect, the candy in the handout bags went over well and the cold water donated by Grainger was greatly appreciated – A GOOD SHOW! Thanks to the many Ingram employees who made the tour day a success! Tommy Bottoms/MSI, supplied the canopy and table on the landing barge Charlie Ritchie/James Marine – completed the wheel display arrangement with the spares for the Roy Claverie and a damaged wheel for comparison. We should plan to repeat in 2009 as the display was successful. SCI - Ann Mills: THANKS again to Ann for working the bicycle give-a-way; there were many entries and the winners were: Puzzle – donated by Randy Mayes – Devin Culp Girls 16” – Emily Meyer Boys 16” – Girls - Boys - Julie Harris – River Heritage Museum River Works Discovery: AEP River Operations / Paducah arranged for a local volunteer to man their booth. Randy Mayse – Towboat artist. Line-Throwing Contest – Brad Richard / Ingram Barge: All winners were from Ingram Barge Company! 1st Place – $125 – Captain Mike Ely 2nd Place – $100 – Pilot Rocky Jones 3rd Place – $75 – Senior DH Ken McManus The event corralled a record turnout of 30+ throwers and THANKS to Carl Blanchard and Brad Richard for managing the event. Cash price money donated by Mr. Jerry Jones @ SCH Terminals!!! ORSANCO Aquarium – The reappearance after many years of the aquarium was a huge success with a constant stream of visitors Friday and Saturday; the aquarium has been booked for 2009. Many THANKS to the donations that made the appearance possible with the Jackson Purchase Foundation and Robert Johnson leading the effort! USCG – patrol boat display USCG Auxiliary – the ever popular “COASTIE” robot SCI Simulator Tours – THANKS to Joe Vancil, Les / Susan Grimm, Dave Dewey and tour directors for their efforts.
